PBIS in Magma

 

Magma Ranch has officially implemented Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports, (PBIS) school wide.  PBIS is a proactive strategy for defining, teaching and supporting student behavior resulting in academic and social gains and a positive school environment.  Research shows that when a school environment is positive and predictable, students feel safer, have better academic performance, higher test results and make better behavior choices. Schools also show a gain in instructional time, reduction in out of school suspensions and discipline referrals. PBIS is not a curriculum, but a process of planning and problem solving that includes direct teaching of social behaviors like academics. The basic PBIS approach is to use proactive, research-based strategies to teach clearly defined behavioral expectations. Most importantly, it establishes ongoing behavior supports that can be used by ALL students, staff, volunteers, parents and community members.​

               Sistema de Intervención de Comportamiento Positivo (PBISpor sus siglas en inglés BIS) en Magma

                 Sistema de Intervención de Comportamiento Positivo (por sus siglas en inglés PBIS) ahora está  en su primera fase en Magma.   El Equipo PBIS recopilo datos con respecto  a  percepciones del personal y de los estudiantes de las reglas y procedimientos de la escuela Magma.  Después   el concepto detrás de PBIS  fue introducido  al personal.  Juntos, nosotros hemos estado desarrollado un sistema matriz para  toda la escuela que describe tres expectativas de comportamiento para utilizar universalmente en el recinto escolar en  todas las zonas comunes.  Varias ideas para carteles se han redactado  para utilizar en los pasillos que muestran las tres expectativas de comportamiento de  toda la escuela  Magma.  (MR3- Respetuoso, Responsable, Decisiones Correctas.)  Siguiente  estamos  mirando  procedimientos específicos y planes de lección para que el personal  pueda utilizar cuando enseñando las expectativas de comportamiento a los estudiantes.

 

 

Announcement from the Nurse's Office:

                           Aviso de la Enfermería

Just a reminder to Parents: With the warm weather  students are going to, if they haven’t already, start to wear flip flops/sandals to school. The Nurse DOES NOT have extra shoes for your child should their flip flop/sandal break. PLEASE have your child bring an extra pair of shoes if they are going to be wearing sandals or flip flops.

 

Also, warmer weather means shorts and tank top. Shorts need to be longer than your child’s fingertips and tank top straps must be 2 inches wide, NOT 2 fingers! If your child is dress coded you will get a call to bring them clothes, the second time they are dress coded they will receive a referral. (This information is in the student handbook) Thank you!

 

 

Kinder- PLEASE send an extra pair clothes with your child. The Nurse is running out of extra clothes for those that have accidents.

 

*The nurse will gladly take any clothing donations that you may have!

 

Sólo un recordatorio para los padres: Ya que el tiempo se  está poniendo  más cálido,   los estudiantes van a, si es que no lo han hecho, comenzar a vestir con   chanclas / sandalias a la escuela. La enfermera NO tiene  zapatos extra  para  darle a su  hijo si   las  flip flop/chanclas / sandalias  se  rompen. POR FAVOR haga que su hijo traiga otro par de  zapatos si él va a estar usando  sandalias o chanclas. También, el clima más cálido significa que estarán vistiendo con bermudas/ pantalón corto  y camisetas sin mangas. Los pantalones cortos deben tener un largo que llegue hasta   la  punta de los  dedos de la mano  y las tirantes  de las camisetas deben ser  de 2 pulgadas de ancho, ¡NO 2 dedos! La próxima vez  que su hijo  él esté en  incumpliendo del código de vestimenta, usted recibirá una llamada   para que traiga  un cambio de  ropa, la segunda vez que él  esté en incumplimiento del código de  vestimenta recibirá un informe  debido al incumplimiento. (Esta información se encuentra en el manual de estudiantes) ¡Gracias!

 

Electronic Sign in and out Now in Magma

The front office has acquired a new computer for Parents to sign in and sign out students and when they visit our campus they can also sign in as a visitor. This is new technology that was put in place to save on paper and privacy issues.  We are the first K-8 school to get this new computer and new way of doing things.  Once a parent signs in/ out a student it directly goes into Google docs where the registrar and receptionist have it in real time and have direct access to the information. Parents who have come in seemed real surprised and have given great positive reviews. If this goes well, it will be used to register voters in the future.

 

Registración Electrónica  de Entrada y Salida Ahora en   Magma

 

  La oficina ha adquirido una nueva computadora para que los Padres registren la  entrada o salida  de estudiantes y  cuando visiten nuestro campus escolar también pueden registrarse como visitante. Esta es la nueva tecnología que se puso en marcha  para ahorrar papel y por questiones  de privacidad. Somos la primera escuela Kínder- 8  grado de obtener  esta nueva computadora y nueva manera de hacer las cosas.  Una vez que el padre de familia  registre   la entrada y   salida de un estudiante, la información va directamente a documentos Google, donde la secretaria de registros y recepcionista  la  obtienen en tiempo real y tienen acceso directo a la información. Los padres  que han venido parecen estar sorprendidos y han aportado comentarios muy positivos.  Si esto resulta bien, se  estará utilizando  para registrar a los votantes en el futuro.
